Song: "Hey Chemistry!"

Artist: The Gin Blossoms

Tell me, Mr. Cyclohexane,
How to change this boat conformation.
You see I've tried the twist boat, too,
But it was still too high in energy.

Pucker me into a beach chair shape
With no strain by definition.
All of my hydrogens will stagger, and
I'll be in low energy.

Tomorrow we can move substituents around
Into axial and equatorial,
Legs pointing towards the sun and towards the sand
Into cis and trans.

Hey Chemistry!
Hey Chemistry!
Hey Chemistry!
Hey Chemistry!

But if you start adding methyl groups
Or other elements
Try to keep the big stuff equatorial
To avoid 1,3 diaxial strain

'Cause all I really want's to be more stable,
Maybe play with the nucleophiles.
A ring flip could change my shape by switching me.
Just please keep my chair form.

Tomorrow we can move substituents around
Into axial and equatorial,
Legs pointing towards the sun and towards the sand
Into cis and trans.
