"Fresh Flipping This Chair"

Now this is a story, all about how,
My bonds get flip turned upside out,
I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there,
And I'll tell you all about the flip in this form called a chair.

This here chair conformation, six carbon ring,
These angles sittin' fine, so that ain't no strain.
Chillin out, maxin', relaxin all spaced,
The only thing they fearin' is a steric case.
When a couple of bonds, they were up to no good,
Started makin' strain in Carbon's neighborhood.
They got all up on axial, just acting the fool,
When Carbons came together, said we'll flip and its cool.

When carbons form a ring there's sides and there's up,
Equatorial is outside, all the space they could want.
But here up in axial, the steric problems abound,
Because we're putting all these atoms in these itty-bitty grounds.

Substituents start pushing, and they're wanting to leave,
And 1,3 diaxial is starting a scene.
So flip those fighting groups from here to there (motioning up to side)
Now you've got the chillin form of this here chair.
