Bye Bye Alkene Bond Pi
A long, long time ago I can still remember how organic chemistry
used to make me smile and I if I had my chance
that I could make those students dance
and maybe they'd be happy for a while
but February's test made me shiver
with every paper I had graded,
bad news for the concept. . .
my students couldn't take one more step,
I can't remember if I cried when I posted grades on my door outside
but something touched me deep inside, the day, the pi bond, died. So. . .
Bye Bye alkene bond pi
drove your electrons to the electrophile and your pi bond has died
the carbocation has two ways to stabilize
pulling electrons thru the bonds and thru the sky
pulling electrons thru the bonds and sky
Did you learn the work arrows
and do you have faith in your arrow pushes
cause Dr. P told you so or do you believe in rock and roll
don't think chemistry can save your mortal soul
then I'll teach you how to react. . .real slow
I don't know if you're in love with chem.
cuz I saw you pumpin in the gym
you could hinge out your double bonds and look for a shift of a nearby bond.
but I too was a lonely teenage bronkin buck
with my copy of McMurry and a pick truck
and I knew I too was out of luck, the day. . .the pi bond died.
so I started singin. . .
