I know a group with triple bonds
It's nonpolar and starts with an ion
There's two ways that I can make it
Attack an alkyl halide, that is my favorite

Start with a compound that's strong and true
Acetylene, in a reaction that's SN2
Sodamide deprotonates to make acetylide ion
Now an alkyl halide's what I've got my eye on

Nucleophile attack, there's nothing better
If it's a primary halide you know who'll get her
The halide attaches to make an alkyne
Now I can make them all the time
